The steady decline of Muslim civilization did not start with the decline of the Abbasids in thirteenth century; rather it started in eighteenth century. No doubt sacking of Baghdad in 1258 C.E. by the Mongols was a major disaster, however, Muslims recovered very quickly and they did very well in post 1258 era, that is, during 14th , 15th, 16th and 17th centuries.
